Fatal Traffic Accident at 11700 Southwest Freeway

November 5, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 11700 block of the Southwest Freeway (U. S. Highway 59 South) near the West Sam Houston Parkway about 2:30 a.m. today (Nov. 5).

The male victim, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer M. Reyes reported:

The victim was driving a black Pontiac southbound on the Southwest Freeway when he failed to stay in his lane and struck a white tractor trailer truck. The Pontiac then struck some plastic barrels, while the tractor trailer rolled over and lost a load of dry food. The driver of the Pontiac was killed.

The investigation is continuing.
