Surveillance Video Released of Suspect Sought in Robbery

March 13, 2009 - Houston police robbery investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect captured on surveillance video, wanted for the robbery of a female in the 11000 block of Montbrook about 11:30 p.m. on February 16.

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, about 22 years of age.  He fled the scene driving in a Jeep with Texas license plates 955RJP.  The female victim, 19, was not injured.

HPD Robbery Division Officer J. Miller reported:

The victim returned to her home after shopping at a nearby department store.  As she got out of her vehicle, the suspect, who had followed her from the store, approached her and began to ask her about her vehicle for sale.  The suspect asked the victim if she had a pen.  When she reached in her purse, the suspect stole the purse and ran to a waiting Jeep.  The victim noticed a Hispanic female inside the suspect’s vehicle as it fled the scene.  The victim recognized the male and female as persons who were in front of her making a purchase at the same department store at the same register.  Surveillance video from the store shows the suspects entering and leaving the business and a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee following the victim’s vehicle as it was leaving the parking lot.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects or location of their vehicle is urged to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
