Fatal Traffic Accident at 14600 Northwest Freeway Service Road

June 24, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14600 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road about 3 a.m. today.

The driver of a silver Lexus GS300 sedan died at the scene after his vehicle struck the back of an 18-wheeler.  The identity of the male victim, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer D. Brown reported:

A witness reported to police that the Lexus motorist was westbound on the Northwest Freeway service road, driving without his headlights on, when he ran into the back of an 18-wheeler.  The truck had turned right onto the service road when the Lexus struck the truck’s trailer.  The truck’s driver immediately stopped his vehicle and discovered the Lexus’ driver to be unresponsive. 

The investigation is continuing.
