Investigation Into Shooting at 5108 Lelia

June 22, 2009 - Charges are pending against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a female at 5108 Lelia about 6:20 a.m. today.

The victim, 20, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she is undergoing surgery.  Her identity is being withheld pending notification to family members. 

The wanted suspect is the woman’s ex-boyfriend.  At this time, he faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.H. Roberts and Officer B.W. Nabors reported:

The victim arrived at her aunt’s home to pick up her child the aunt had kept overnight.  Shortly after her arrival, the victim’s ex-boyfriend arrived at the home and forced entry inside.  As he and the victim argued, he pulled a pistol and shot her several times.  The ex-boyfriend then fled on foot.
