Charges Filed in Fatal Shooting at 5810 Fondren #23 July 31, 2009 - Charges have been filed against two suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 5810 Fondren #23 about 5:30 a.m. on June 28. The suspects, Filadelfo Aveja Meza (H/m, DOB: 2-13-76) and Filemon Varela-Osorio (H/m, DOB: 3-8-70), are charged with capital murder in the 183 State District Court. Photos of both suspects are attached to this news release. Both are accused in the killing Amando Luviano-Villegas. Mr. Luviano-Villegas, 22, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.J. Brooks and Senior Police Officer M.F. Waters reported: A couple that lived in the apartment at 5810 Fondren #23 awoke to the sound of gunshots and saw two male suspects running from their apartment. The couple looked around their apartment and found Luviano-Villegas dead in their bathroom with multiple gunshot wounds. An investigation developed information that identified Meza and Varela-Osorio as the suspects in this case. Further investigation determined Meza and Varela-Osorio fled to Mexico in an off-white-colored, late model Cadillac Escalade sports utility vehicle.
