Wanted Suspect Arrested in 1997 Murder January 2, 2008 - Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, Houston police located and arrested a suspect charged in the 1997 Christmas day fatal shooting of a man at 7425 Pinetex. The suspect, Javier Solis Jr. (H/m, DOB: 6-23-79), was arrested without incident in Rosenberg on December 26 with the assistance of Rosenberg police officers. Solis is accused in the killing of Roger Stobaugh, 27, who resided at the Pinetex location. HPD Homicide Division Officer C. Park of the Cold Case Unit reported: On December 25, 1997, Mr. Stobaugh drove up to his home and discovered suspects burglarizing his residence. He confronted one of the suspects (Solis) and a struggle ensued. Solis retrieved a pistol, fatally shot Stobaugh and fled the scene. The homicide investigators on the case, Sergeant G. Alderete and Officer M. Wright, filed charges of capital murder on Solis (in the 182nd State District Court) about six weeks after the murder and exhausted all efforts in locating Solis through the years. The break in the case came when Crime Stoppers received a tip which led homicide investigators and Rosenberg police to the residence of one of Solis’ family members. Following his arrest on Dec. 26, he was subsequently transported to the Harris County Jail. JFC/VHS Inc #163369697 For additional
