Fatal Traffic Accident at 11800 Katy Freeway December 29, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 11800 block of the Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 West) about 8:30 a.m. today. The identity of the juvenile female victim, 6, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer S. Boone reported: A gray Dodge Charger was traveling westbound on the Katy Freeway when it experienced a flat tire and slowed down on the freeway. The driver of a Plymouth Voyager, who was behind the Dodge, also slowed down and tried to verbally offer help to the driver of the Dodge. The Plymouth was then struck from behind by a black Ford Explorer, which then struck the Dodge from behind. The 6-year old passenger in the Plymouth was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other juvenile passengers were transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in unknown conditions. The drivers of all three vehicles were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown conditions. The investigation is continuing.
