Investigation Into Man’s Death at 10137 Inwood Hollow

August 24, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man and illnesses of six other persons found at 10137 Inwood Hollow Lane about 8 a.m. on Friday (Aug. 21).

The deceased male, Damian Demond Scott, 26, of the above address, suffered carbon monoxide poisoning and was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. The other six victims, Latrice Randle, 26, Damian Scott Jr., 6, Destiny Scott, 9, Damerion Scott, 4, Myshia Randle, 22, and Winter Sanders, 7 months, all of the above address, were found unconscious and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Dillingham and Senior Police Officer J. Bonaby reported:

At about 4:30 a.m., Mr. Scott woke his wife, Latrice Randle, and told her to go to bed. Scott then went to the garage and began watching a DVD inside his vehicle with the doors closed, engine running and the doors to the residence and garage closed. At some point, the garage filled with carbon monoxide and then filtered into the house.

Ms. Randle, her sister Myshia, and four children were sleeping inside the residence. Myshia was awakened by the infant crying and found the baby having a seizure. She alerted her sister, who then went outside to alert her husband. Randle found her husband unconscious in the locked vehicle. While trying to aid him, she also lost consciousness and was found between two parked cars.

Randle’s sister contacted 911 and both Houston Fire Department medics and Houston Police Department officers arrived and found all residents of the house unconscious. Damion Scott was transported to the hospital in serious condition and pronounced dead upon arrival. The other residents were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. The incident appears to be an accidental death.
