Fatal Traffic Accident at Beltway 8 And Gulf Freeway

April 23, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Beltway 8 (South Sam Houston Parkway) and the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday (Apr. 22). 

The victim, identified as Nayeli Gonzalez, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Senior Police Officer J. Mushinski reported: 

The driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the far right lane of the Beltway 8 south service road when it struck a Chevy Equinox in the intersection of the Gulf Freeway east service road. The Chevy was traveling northbound on the Gulf Freeway east service road. After colliding with the Ford, the Chevy struck a traffic pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. Ms. Gonzalez was ejected from the back seat of the Equinox and suffered major head trauma.
