Serial Rapist Charged in Eighth Sexual Assault Case
May 30, 2008 - Additional charges have been filed against a suspect already charged in the sexual assaults of seven women dating back to 2002
The suspect, Bilford Dwight Junious (b/m, DOB: 9-19-70) is charged with an eighth aggravated sexual assault in the 263rd State District Court and is currently in custody in the Harris County Jail awaiting trial.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer D. R. Shorten reported:
On August 23, 2002, a female was walking in the 900 block of East 36th Street and was approached by Junious, who was driving a red 2001 or 2002 pickup truck with tinted windows. The female got into the pickup with the agreement Junious would give her a ride to the Acres Homes area. At some point, Junious turned onto a side street where he displayed a knife, ordered the female to the back of his truck and sexually assaulted her. The female then ran to a nearby house, where she called police and was then transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.
Investigators sent evidence from the August 2002 sexual assault to ReliaGene Technologies Incorporated and asked analysts to compare suspect Junious’ DNA recovered from other sexual assault cases in which he was named as a suspect to the evidence in the 2002 incident. Results from ReliaGene and a description from the victim in the 2002 incident identified Junious as the suspect. Junious was previously charged with sexually assaulting women in the following seven incidents:
- June 1, 2003 – 6500 West Montgomery
- February 27, 2004 – 6616 Morrow
- April 8, 2004 – 200 West 38th Street
- May 26, 2004 – 9205 Sandle
- December 30, 2004 – 1440 North Loop
- January 29, 2006 – 6100 Knox
- May 31, 2006 – 2600 Mansfield
The HPD Homicide Division is currently awaiting results from ReliaGene on other submitted cases.
