Photos Released in Fatal Shooting at 9004 North Freeway June 12, 2008 - Houston police homicide investigators have released photos they hope will lead to the identity of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 9004 North Freeway about 10:40 p.m. on Sunday (June 8). The suspect is described only as a black male, 18 to 20 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and a dark complexion. He was wearing a dark colored sweat suit with a matching stripe down the pants’ legs and the jacket sleeves, and a dark colored Houston Astros baseball cap with a blue star on the front. The suspect was seen leaving in a 1996-98 dark four-door Cadillac. Photos of a likeness of the vehicle and the baseball cap are attached to this news release.
The victim, identified as Jorge Hernandez, 31, of Houston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Brooks, M. W. McStravick, P. J. LeBlanc and Senior Police Officer M. Waters reported: Mr. Hernandez, a fuel truck driver, was delivering fuel to a Mobil station at 9004 North Freeway when he was approached by a male suspect who tried to rob him. As both men struggled, the suspect shot Hernandez several times. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark Cadillac driven by an unknown second black male suspect.
