Fatal Traffic Accident at 7900 Katy Freeway June 12, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7900 block of the Katy Freeway (Interstate 10 West) about 2:10 a.m. today. The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officers D. Gutierrez and S. Johnson reported: Witnesses stated the victim was driving a blue Chevrolet Silverado at a high rate of speed west on the Katy Freeway when he attempted to take the Wirt Road exit at the last moment. The front end of the pickup truck hit a crash barrier before spinning and striking a guardrail on the north side of the exit lane. The victim, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected when his truck hit the guardrail. |
