Fatal Traffic Accident on Eastex Freeway at Crosstimbers

July 31, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on the Eastex Freeway (State Highway 59 North) at Crosstimbers about 12:20 a.m. today (July 31).

The male victim, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. S. Runyan and Officer S. M. Johnson reported:

The victim was operating a black Yamaha motorcycle northbound on the Eastex Freeway at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a red Dodge Caravan, also traveling northbound.

The driver of the Caravan, a 16 year-old juvenile male, was ticketed for driving without a license. The juvenile’s mother was also ticketed for allowing him to drive without a license.

The investigation is continuing.
