Fatal Traffic Accident on Bissonnet at Fondren July 7, 2008 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested after he fled the scene of a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of Bissonnet at Fondren about 5 a.m. last Saturday (July 5). Jesus Ebilio Arita (H/m, DOB: 3-22-84) is facing possible charges of failure to stop and render aid (FSRA) and intoxication manslaughter. He was arrested near the accident scene after fleeing from his vehicle. The name of the deceased male victim, 32, is pending notification to family members. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N.A. Perry and Officer B. Banks reported: A black Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling east on Bissonnet when it was struck by a black Kia Sephia traveling south on Fondren. The driver of the Kia ran the red light and fled on foot immediately after striking the truck. The front seat passenger in the Kia was killed at the scene and two rear seat passengers in the Kia were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck sustained an injury to his arm and was treated at the scene by paramedics. A male (Arita) identified as the driver of the Kia was taken into custody in the 7200 block of Bissonnet, a short distance from the accident scene.
