Fatal Traffic Accident at 2700 South Richey

December 22, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 2700 block of South Richey about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 20).

The identity of the deceased victim, a male in his 40s, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.  He was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer J. Garcia II reported:

The driver of a gray Chevrolet pickup truck stated he was driving westbound on South Richey when a pedestrian appeared in front of his truck.  He further stated he tried to stop, but could not avoid hitting the pedestrian.

Field tests on the driver did not indicate any impairment.  The investigation is continuing.  No charges have been filed.
