Fatal Traffic Accident at 7200 Southwest Freeway August 12, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7200 block of the Southwest Freeway (US Highway 59 South) service road about 4:05 a.m. today. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer S. Johnson reported: The victim was driving a gray Chevrolet Impala southbound on the Southwest Freeway service at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a tree on the sidewalk on the south side of Sharpstown Mall. The Impala immediately began smoking before bursting into flame. The investigation is continuing. |
