Update On Incident at 8910 Beechnut

September 20, 2007 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal
shooting of a man at 8910 Beechnut about 10:20 p. m. on Sunday (September 16).

The suspect, Antonio Cuevas (H/m, DOB: 4-11-90), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.

The victim, Gerald Spaulding, 19, of 10552 Beechnut #1104, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Brooks and B.E. Roberts reported:
Mr. Spaulding and a friend were walking near the parking lot of the Beechnut Palms Apartment Complex when several members of a rival group confronted them. Cuevas produced a weapon and shot the victim multiple times. Cuevas and the other males then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation identified Cuevas as the suspect in this case and he was arrested on Monday (September 17) at his residence without incident.
