Update on Incident at 8601A Martin Luther King Boulevard May 16, 2007 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man at 8601A Martin Luther King Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. on Monday (May 14). Barretta Robertson, (b/m, DOB 7-14-78) is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court. The victim, Peter A. Brown, 31, of 5500 Rickey, suffered severe head trauma. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and later died of his injuries. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. C. Padilla and Officer K. P. Carr reported: Officers arrived at the 5700 block of Schevers Street and found Mr. Brown lying in the roadway with severe injuries to his head. Witnesses told investigators he was also the victim of a possible robbery/auto theft that occurred at a Shell station at 8601A Martin Luther King Boulevard. According to witnesses, Mr. Brown was clinging to his vehicle, as it was being stolen by a suspect, from the parking lot of the Shell station. The vehicle traveled east on Reed Road at a high rate of speed, when Mr. Brown apparently fell off and was possibly run over. Through further investigation, HPD Homicide Division investigators developed the suspect, Barretta Robertson. The suspect was positively identified by witnesses and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Robertson was arrested on Tuesday (May 15) and was transported to the HPD Homicide Division, where he confessed to the incident.
