Surveillance Photos Released in Incident at 3202 Chimney Rock

March 28, 2007 -- Houston police homicide investigators have released surveillance photos from the scene of a fatal shooting at 3202 Chimney Rock about 3 a.m. on March 21.

The shooter is described as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a black baggy shirt and dark pants. He was seen with two other black males driving in a red four-door, station wagon type vehicle, believed to be a 2006-07 Chevrolet HHR. The vehicle has five-spoke shiny rims. Surveillance photos of the suspect, the suspect’s vehicle, as well as a picture of the Chevrolet HHR vehicle model are attached to this news release.

The victim, Jimmy Ray Polk, 28, of 6666 Chimney Rock #27 sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Anthony and Officers D. Arnold, T. Andrade and S. Jefferson reported:

Witnesses reported Mr. Polk had an altercation with some unknown males at a gas service station. During the disturbance, he was shot several times. Three suspects were seen getting into a vehicle and speeding from the scene. Besides the shooter, the two other suspects were described only as black males, 20 to 25 years old and weighing about 150 pounds. One of them had hair longer than shoulder length, possibly dreadlocks style, and was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and white shoes. The other male had short hair and was wearing a white shirt, white do-rag, dark pants and white shoes.

Investigators are asking anyone at or near the service station at the time of the shooting to contact them. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
