Incident at 8600 Southwest Freeway

March 25, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8600 Southwest Freeway about 2:10 a.m. on Saturday (Mar. 24).

The victim, Bobby Eugene Ward, 24, of 414 East 3rd Street in Stowell, Texas suffered a gunshot wound to the face and was pronounced dead at 2425 West Loop South where he fled.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B.E. Roberts and Officer J. Sosa reported:

Mr. Ward and several friends were involved in a minor traffic accident with another vehicle occupied by several black males. A verbal altercation ensued and the suspect's vehicle drove away. A few minutes later, Ward was traveling northbound on the Southwest Freeway service road when the driver in the suspect's vehicle pulled along side Ward's vehicle, lowered his (suspect's) window and fired multiple shots into Ward's vehicle, striking him in the face.

The suspects are only described as several black males driving a black 4-door Oldsmobile Delta 88.
