Wanted Serial Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested June 20, 2007 - A suspect wanted in a sexual assault case in January 2007 was arrested today (June 20) after being profiled in a Crime Stoppers news conference earlier in the day. The suspect, William James Bradford (b/m, DOB: 4-7-66), is charged with sexual assault in the 262nd State District Court after being positively identified by the victim in the case. The suspect was arrested about 11:45 a.m. at 5830 Van Fleet after being detained by witnesses who recognized him from television news reports as the wanted sexual assault suspect profiled in a morning news conference. The suspect has also been identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety, through a CODIS hit, as a match in a sexual assault that occurred in December 2006. HPD Lieutenant M.D. Waterwall and Sergeant C.S. Blomberg of the Homicide Division Sex Crimes Unit reported: DNA has identified Bradford as the suspect who burglarized an apartment and sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman at the complex at 1800 El Paseo on December 8, 2006. He was wearing a ski mask at the time. Following the sexual assault, he stole the woman’s University of Texas National Champion letter jacket. A second incident occurred about 4:20 a.m. on January 9 when a 27-year-old woman was walking with her two young children to a transit center in the 6700 block of La Salette. As the woman passed Bradford, he grabbed her buttocks and then kept walking. As the woman phoned police to report it, Bradford approached her, touched her again and then sexually assaulted her. The woman said Bradford was wearing a UT letter jacket and a heavy amount of cologne. Investigators have learned a suspect with a similar description, and seen wearing a UT letter jacket, was reported as peeping in windows at an apartment complex at 9801 Meadowglen Lane on February 13. Any female who believes she has been victimized by Bradford is urged contact the HPD Homicide Division Sex Crimes Unit at 713-308-1180 or Juvenile Sex Crimes Unit at 713-731-5335.
