Update on Incident at 7700 Telean July 31, 2007 - Houston police have arrested a suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 7700 Telean about 3:25 a.m. Sunday (July 29). The suspect, Roberto Garcia Gonzalez (H/m, DOB: 5/25/76), charged with murder in the 185th State District Court, was arrested today (July 31), at the 6600 block of Macgrew, after a foot pursuit with officers. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Officer T. J. McCorvey reported: The 74-year old victim, whose identity is pending notification to next of kin, was outside along with Roberto Gonzalez, who is a neighbor. Witnesses heard Gonzalez yelling at the victim to shut up and then saw Gonzalez shoot the victim, who was standing behind a locked chain linked fence. Gonzalez was then seen getting into white 1999 Chrysler Sebring bearing Texas License plate number 512WPV and leave the scene. The victim, who was shot two times in the chest, was pronounced dead at the scene. The weapon was recovered at the scene. On Monday (July 30) Gonzalez’ vehicle was recovered and towed to 6100 Long Drive where Gonzalez returned today (July 31) and was recognized by the clerks, who called police. Gonzalez also left a confession written on a paper bag on the windshield of his vehicle.
