Update on Incident at 9902 Homestead July 23, 2007 - Houston police homicide investigators have released a composite sketch of the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 9902 Homestead about 2 p.m. on July 17. The suspect is described as a black male believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s, and about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He has either long braids or a cornrow hairstyle. The victim, Henry Bang Tran, 54, 12003 Tall Oaks, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Officer H. Chavez reported: Police responded to a call from a customer who walked into a liquor store, observed some things out of place and could not see a store employee. Officers arrived and discovered the victim, Mr. Tran, behind the counter. There is no known motive or suspect information at this time. However, investigators believe a struggle ensued between Tran and the suspect. A white and yellow gold chain, approximately 20-24 inches in length, along with a diamond cross was found near Tran. The chain and cross are believed to belong to the suspect and might have been ripped off the suspect during the struggle. The follow-up investigation has determined there is at least one more witness who walked in on the robbery before Mr. Tran was shot. That witness, wanted only for questioning, is described as a black male in his 40s, driving a small, older black car. Investigators are asking the witness to come forward to help provide more information in this case.
