Incident at 111 Keel July 14, 2007 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of two others at 111 Keel about 2 a.m. today (July 14). The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. One of the wounded males, Fidel Perez, 34, suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to the same hospital. The other wounded male was shot in the leg and is also being treated at Memorial Hermann Hospital. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Officer M. Waters reported: Two male suspects armed with handguns and wearing bandanas over their faces attempted to rob a group of four males gathered outside 111 Keel. One of the four males was also armed. At some point, there was an exchange of gunfire. One suspect was fatally shot, while the other suspect was shot in the leg. One of the four male victims (Perez) was shot in the back. Investigators will confer with the Harris County District Attorney’s office to determine what, if any, charges will be filed in the incident. The surviving suspect could face charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The investigation is continuing.
