Traffic Incident at 2900 Katy Freeway July 1, 2007 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian at 2900 Katy Freeway about 3:10 a.m. today (July 1). The suspect, Davis Garcia (H/m, DOB 9-25-74), faces a felony charge of intoxication manslaughter. The identity of the victim, a 55-65 year-old male, is pending verification from the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R.A. Gonzales and Officer J.J. Vera reported: The suspect was driving a 2001 Volkswagen east on the Katy Freeway service road when he failed of drive in a single lane and left the roadway. The vehicle jumped two guardrails and traveled on the grass towards the bayou where the pedestrian was sitting. The 55-65 year-old victim was killed on impact. The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where mandatory toxicology tests were performed.
