Update on Incident at 1900 Brooks
January 30, 2007 -- Houston
police homicide investigators have arrested one suspect and believe
others were involved in the fatal shooting of a man at 1900 Brooks
on July 10, 2006.
The suspect, identified as Ricardo Garcia (H/m,
DOB 1-4-80), is charged with capital murder in the 185th State
District Court. He is accused in the killing of Marin Trevino,
25, of 6413 Neff.

McStravick, C. Howard and Officer R. Moreno reported:
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area
of 1900 Brooks about 3:45 a.m. on July 10, 2006. Officers responded
and found a vehicle with an open trunk parked at the location.
Further investigation revealed a male’s body was inside
the trunk. The male had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and
was dead at the scene.
A follow-up investigation revealed Trevino was
killed during a narcotics deal that went bad. Garcia was eventually
developed as one of the suspects in this case.
Homicide investigators contacted and received
support from the HPD SWAT Team, Gang Division, Northeast Patrol
Warrant Execution Team, and a Harris County Sheriff’s Office
Narcotic K-9. All went to Garcia’s residence at 501 Majestic
where Garcia was taken into custody last Wednesday (Jan. 24).
Investigators recovered a large amount of drugs and charged Garcia
and his wife, Mercedes Reyna Flores (H/f, DOB: 4-21-81), with
possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Three
children in the home at the time of the arrests were unharmed
and released to their grandparents at the scene.
