Traffic Incident at 7400 North Freeway

February 26, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7400 block of the North Freeway (I-45 North) about 3:15 a.m. on Thursday (February 22).

The identities of the two males, in their twenties, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. One victim died at the scene and the other was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Lieutenant J. Zitzmann, Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer M.E. Wick reported:

A white Ford Explorer traveling the wrong way on the North Freeway mainlanes, struck a white Isuzu van traveling north, head-on. The driver of the Explorer died at the scene and the driver of the Isuzu van died at a local hospital. A male passenger in the Isuzu, in his twenties, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
