Traffic Incident at 6800 Airline August 20, 2007 -Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the 6800 block of Airline about 1:40 p.m. on Sunday (August 19). The victim, who suffered severe head and facial injuries, died at the scene. His identity is pending notification to next of kin. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant S. A. Perez and Officer J. Vega reported: The driver of a 1999 red Pontiac Firebird was traveling south in the 6800 block of Airline, failed to yield the right of way and attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of Cooper Street. At that time, a motorcycle driver traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the rear passenger quarter panel of the Firebird. The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet. The case has been referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s office. The investigation is continuing.
