Incident at 8300 Mykawa Road August 14, 2007 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man at 8300 Mykawa Road about 11:40 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 13). The male, Darrell Lauderdale (b/m, DOB 8-28-62), of 5938 Westover, stopped breathing and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.J. Anthony and Officer D. W. Arnold reported: Mr. Lauderdale was arrested for public intoxication in the 6000 block of Vasser after patrol officers responded to a suspicious event call. Lauderdale was transported to the HPD Stringfellow Southeast Police Station Jail where he had some type of psychotic episode and started convulsing. Jail medical personnel checked Lauderdale and called an ambulance. Prior to the ambulance arriving, Lauderdale stopped breathing and jail medical personnel began performing CPR on him. Paramedics arrived and transported Lauderdale to the hospital. As is customary in in-custody deaths in the city limits, the case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
