Traffic Incident at Fondren and Pagewood August 1 , 2007 - The identity of the deceased male, believed to be in his 20s, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. He was a suspect driving a stolen vehicle. A male passenger in the stolen vehicle was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer M.E. Wick reported: HPD officers received an auto theft in-progress call at 5810 Fondren. As officers arrived, the suspects were seen leaving the apartment complex in a green 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, while three other suspects were believed to have fled on foot. Officers attempted to follow the suspects north on Fondren, passing through numerous major intersections. The suspects reached speeds of approximately 90 miles per hour during a one minute long pursuit, before the Dodge Caravan struck a BFI garbage truck attempting to cross Fondren on Pagewood.
