Traffic Incident at 1500 Bissonnet

September 29, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 1500 block of Bissonnet about 12:50 a.m. today (September 29).

The deceased male, Daniel Huffaker, was a passenger in the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver, John M. Brawley, was taken to Memorial Herman Hospital by ambulance after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant S.R. Sorge and Officers M.E. Wick and P. McCrae reported:

A black four door Infiniti was seen by an HPD patrol officer traveling at a high rate of speed, eastbound, in the 1500 block of Bissonnet. The officer, who was westbound at the same location, turned around to initiate a traffic stop. After completing the turn, the officer saw the Infiniti veer left and drive off the roadway, striking a light pole. The passenger died at the scene. The driver submitted to a mandatory blood sample.

The investigation is continuing.

Update: Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2700 Dallas Street

June 15, 2022 - Houston police have learned a man injured in a shooting at 2700 Dallas Street about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday (June 12) has died.

The identity of the victim, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detective A. Hernandez and Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives I. Rios-Hernandez and J. Cimeni reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased on Tuesday (June 14).

Officers were advised the victim was among a group of people outside a graduation party being held at a nearby residence. A vehicle, described only as a gray SUV, was seen driving through the area before multiple gunshots were fired and the victim was struck.

At this time, there is no known motive or suspect(s) in the shooting.
