Traffic Incident at 9400 North Freeway

October 22, 2006 -- Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 9400 block of the North Freeway service road about 1:50 a.m. today (October 22).

The identity of the deceased male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

The suspect is identified as Marcizo Martinez (H/m, DOB 09-20-83). Investigators are in contact with the Harris County District Attorney's office in an effort to pursue charges of intoxication manslaughter against the suspect.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer J.A. Vega reported:

Two vehicles were racing in the 9400 block of the North Freeway service road northbound when a motorcycle pulled out of a parking lot onto the service road. The suspect's vehicle struck the back of the motorcycle, killing the male rider.

The investigation is continuing.
