Update on Incident at 9986 Bissonnet
October 19, 2006 -- A suspect
wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 9986 Bissonnet
about 12:10 a.m. on August 28, 2006 has been arrested.
With the assistance of the Tyler Police Department
and agents from the U.S. Marshals Service and Alcohol, Tobacco
and Firearms (ATF), the suspect, Ralph Michael Anderson, (b/m,
DOB 5-23-83) was arrested in Tyler, Texas, about 6:45 p.m. on
Wednesday (Oct. 18). Anderson is accused in the killing of James
Hubbard, 26, of 9290 Woodfair. Anderson is charged in the 179th
State District Court.
Both Anderson and Hubbard are Hurricane Katrina
evacuees from New Orleans.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. McStravick
and Officer T. Andrade reported:
Mr. Hubbard was purchasing cigars at the cashier's
window of a food mart when the driver of a newer model, silver
colored four-door sedan pulled into the parking lot. The driver
pulled a gun and fired several times, striking Hubbard multiple
times.
The follow-up investigation determined suspect
Anderson had fled to Tyler where he was staying with a friend
at an apartment complex. HPD Homicide Division investigators drove
to Tyler on Wednesday (Oct. 18) in an attempt to locate and arrest
Anderson. Investigators and federal agents joined Tyler police
in taking the suspect into custody without incident.
