Traffic Incident at 10215 Beechnut #1501

October 10, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 10215 Beechnut #1501 about 5:50 a.m. today (October 10).

The victim, Anthony Dewayne Vurns, 38, of 10215 Beechnut #1501, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Anthony and Officer D. Arnold reported:

HPD officers responded to a deceased male call at approximately 5:50 a.m. at the above location after family members discovered the victim inside his apartment. The victim had an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. There was evidence at the location which lead investigators to believe the victim may have known his attacker.

There are no known witnesses or motive at this time.
