Incident on 3418 Memel
November 17, 2006 -- Charges
are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of
a woman at 3418 Memel about 2:35 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 16).
The suspect, Adan Covarrubias (H/m, DOB 3/28/77),
is accused in the murder of his common-law wife, Socorro Angel,
25, who suffered gunshot wounds. He was questioned at HPD Headquarters
at 1200 Travis and taken into custody late Thursday night.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Walker and
Officer T. Hufstedler reported:
HFD firefighters responded to a house fire at
3418 Memel and found Ms. Angel's body inside the residence, after
the fire was extinguished. Follow-up investigations by HPD Homicide
and HFD Arson investigators determined Angel had been shot, and
the fire had been intentionally set. Statements were obtained
from several witnesses, including Covarrubias, and those statements
led to his arrest.
