Incident at 1003 Ruthven

November 13, 2006 -- The fatal shooting of a man at 1003 Ruthven on Sunday (November 12, 2006) at 6:45 p.m. will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male suspect is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. He sustained several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Wyers and Officer B.W. Nabors reported:

The homeowner, Jarrett Feil, 32, was working on a motorcycle in his garage, with the door open. The suspect approached the homeowner and requested money from him. When the homeowner refused, the suspect produced a knife. The homeowner produced a handgun and advised the suspect to leave the premises. The suspect threatened to kill the homeowner and became very aggressive. The homeowner discharged his handgun several times, striking the suspect. The homeowner contacted 911 to report the incident.
