Traffic Incident at 2700 East Loop North

November 4, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2700 East Loop North about 2:25 a.m. today (Nov. 4).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office and notification to family members.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer D.J. Gutierrez reported:

The victim was inside a vehicle, which had stalled in a moving lane of traffic on the East Loop. A late-model Ford pickup traveling on the freeway struck the rear of the stalled vehicle, which had its light off. The driver of the stalled vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries. No charges are contemplated at this time.
