Incident at 4300 Schuler

March 21, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 300 Schuler about 4:10 a.m. today (Mar. 21).

The victim is identified as Oscar Wade Williams, 61, of 9200 Richmond. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers T. Cunningham and I.F. Flores Jr. reported:

According to a witness, Oscar Williams and a friend were walking down Schuler when an unknown Hispanic male suspect driving a light blue Ford F-150 truck approached and confronted the pair with a gun in hand. When Williams began to run away, the suspect aimed and fired his weapon, striking Williams in the back of the head. The suspect jumped back into his vehicle and fled.
