Incident at 2218 Woodland Park Drive
March 19, 2006 -- Houston police
are investigating the fatal shooting of an aggravated robbery
suspect at 2218 Woodland Park Drive on March 18, 2006 about 6
p.m.
The identity of the deceased male is pending
an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.
The resident is identified as William Harvey,
34, of 2218 Woodland Park Drive. He suffered gunshot wounds to
the neck, side and lower back and was transported to Ben Taub
Hospital in stable condition.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Wyers and
Officer T.S. Tyler reported:
Mr. Harvey was shot by suspects who forced their
way into his residence, pulled guns and demanded money. The suspects
held Mr. Harvey and his family at gunpoint and threatened to kill
them. Mr. Harvey struggled with one of the suspects and was able
to disarm him and shoot him. The suspect was pronounced dead at
the scene. Mr. Harvey exchanged gunfire with at least one other
armed suspect and was wounded during this exchange. It appears
that in total three to four suspects fled the scene, one of which
may have also been shot by Mr. Harvey before he left.
The suspects left in a newer Honda Accord, four-door
vehicle, gray or silver in color with dark tinted windows and
paper plates.
