March 18, 2006 -- Houston police

The victim is identified as Edward Leroy Hamilton,
21, of 3322 Yellowstone Blvd. Hamilton suffered a gunshot wound
to the side of the face and was pronounced dead near the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.D. Newcomb and
Officer K.P. Carr reported:
Edward Leroy Hamilton was shot in the parking
lot of a local fast food restaurant during a large gathering for
a rap music publicity event. Witnesses reported that by 5:15 p.m.,
the crowd had swelled to hundreds of males and a number of them
began displaying weapons, some of which were reported to be AK-47

died prior to their arrival. HPD patrol officers stopped a vehicle
leaving the scene and detained two suspects; however, no charges
have been filed in this case at this time.
