Update on Incident at 5000 Dumfries
March 13, 2006 -- Charges have
been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting
of a juvenile male on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in the 5000 block
of Dumfries around 11:10 p.m.
The shooter, Dontae Terrell Moore (b/m, DOB:
06-24-87), has been arrested and
charged with capital murder in the 177th State District Court.
The second suspect, Jeffrey Rene Lopez (w/m DOB: 11-18-85), was
arrested and charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon
in the 232nd State District Court. Lopez and a third suspect remained
in another vehicle parked behind the victim's car. The third suspect
is described as a black male, 18 to 21 years of age, skinny and
about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Cunningham reported:
16-year-old Jonothan Finkelman, of 4614 Holt,
and a friend went to meet 15-year-old Warren Payne, of 5508 Grand
Lake, and Moore (suspect #1) to complete a drug transaction in
Finkelman*s car. During the transaction, Moore produced a handgun
and demanded Finkelman and his friend*s personal property. A struggle
ensued and Finkleman was shot once in the left side of the head.
Payne, along with Finkleman*s friend (the witness), got out of
the car. Moore shot once more, striking Payne in the abdomen.
Both Payne and Finkleman were transported to
Ben Taub General Hospital. Finkelman was pronounced dead at the
hospital. Payne was listed in critical condition.
