Traffic Incident at 5200 Bellfort

June 24, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5200 Bellfort about 9:20 p.m. on Friday (June 23).

The identity of the deceased victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer T.D. Houston reported:

As the driver traveled westbound on Bellfort at a high rate of speed, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree on the north side of the roadway. The impact killed the driver instantly and sent four of the vehicle's occupants to area hospitals with undetermined injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

The investigation is continuing.
