Incident at 9595 Westview
July 7, 2006 -- Houston police
are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 9595 Westview
about 2 p.m. on Thursday (July 6).
The deceased victim's name is being withheld
pending notification to family members.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.H. Roberts and
Officer C.Y. Park reported:
A witness arrived at the complex and was approached
by the suspect in the parking lot. The suspect said he had just
shot the victim. He then walked toward the shooting scene while
the witness went to the leasing office and called police. The
first police officer arrived and went to the apartment and saw
the victim lying on the ground with the suspect standing over
him. The suspect ran to the rear of the apartment and did not
respond to verbal commands from the officer. SWAT officers responded
to the location, made entry to check on the victim and learned
the suspect had fled the apartment. The victim was found to have
a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was pronounced dead
at the scene by HFD paramedics.
The suspect is described as a black male, 18
to 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slim build.
