July 5, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 9371 Richmond Avenue about 2:35 a.m. today (July 5).

The victim's identity is unknown at this time.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. E. Elliott and Officer J. C. Bonaby reported:

The victim and another male got involved in a physical altercation while inside a nightclub. After being told to leave, the fight resumed outside in the parking lot. According to a witness, an unknown suspect, described only as a black male, pulled out a gun and fired it multiple times. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the bullets struck a male bystander in the right leg. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police are asking those persons inside and outside the nightclub to contact investigators at the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
