Incident at 13426 Abide

January 23, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal beating of his father at 13426 Abide on January 17, 2006 about 8 p.m.

The victim is identified as Zeferino Cisneros, 70, of 13426 Abide.

The suspect, Manuel Cisneros (H/m, DOB: 06-13-70), has been charged with injury to the elderly (serious bodily injury) in the 209th State District Court.

HPD Homicide Division Officer M. Ybanez reported:

Zeferino Cisneros and his son became involved in an altercation. During this fight, the son beat his father severely. Mr. Cisneros was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with life threatening injuries, from which he eventually lapsed into a coma and died. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on January 22 about 1:40 p.m.

There was no scene investigation at the time of the assault because the family did not report it until the next day. As a result of the follow up investigation, the son was charged with injury to the elderly (serious bodily injury). The case will be reviewed by the Harris County District Attorney's office for possible modification of charges.
