HPD Homicide Division Officers P.T. Yochum and
I.F. Flores Jr. reported:
Officers were dispatched to a robbery in-progress
call and determined the scene was a home invasion in which a suspect
was killed. Investigators determined there were three black male
suspects who went to the apartment of Christopher Joseph Norris,
23, of New Orleans. Norris opened the door and was holding his
one-year-old girl, Christany. He recognized two of the suspects
who he said had attended middle school with him in New Orleans.
The third suspect was armed with pistols and rushed into the apartment
demanding Norris' FEMA money. That suspect ordered Norris to an
upstairs bedroom, threw the baby girl down a flight of stairs
in the apartment, and then pistol-whipped Norris on the forehead.
Norris managed to wrestle away the pistols from the suspect and
fatally shot the suspect. The baby was not seriously injured.
The two other suspects fled on foot. Norris identified
one of the suspects as Andrew J. Bell. He is described as a black
male, 20 to 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds.
He has sandy brown hair, facial hair on his chin, and was wearing
a brown beanie hat, a brown jacket and blue jeans. The second
wanted suspect is known only as Mark. He is described as a black
male with a dark complexion, 21 to 23 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches
tall and 200 pounds, has dreadlocks and facial hair on his chin.
The suspect has gold-plated grill teeth and was wearing a blue
Raiders' sports jacket and blue jeans.
