Update on Incident at 8901 Bissonnet
January 6, 2006 -- Charges have
been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of two
men at 8901 Bissonnet about 1:30 a.m. on December 31, 2005.
The suspect, Alvin
Simms (b/m, DOB 5-27-85), has been charged with capital murder
in the 177th State District Court. Investigators said he is a
Hurricane Katrina evacuee and is believed to be somewhere between
Houston and New Orleans, Louisiana. Simms is 5 feet 8 inches tall,
weighs about 130 pounds and has long hair styled in braids.
The victims, Keith Hayes, 19, of 2717 Orchid
in New Orleans, and Calvin Clay, 23, of an unknown address in
Louisiana, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were transported
by private vehicle to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Hayes
was pronounced dead upon arrival and Clay died several hours later.

Officer C.P. Abbondandolo reported:
According to witnesses, the victims and the suspect
knew each other from New Orleans and had relocated to Houston
after Hurricane Katrina.
On the night of the incident, the victims traveled
between Houston and Louisiana in order to work. Both drove back
to Houston after work and stopped along the way to pick up several
friends. The group arrived at an apartment complex at 8901 Bissonnet
and entered apartment #334. Shortly after their arrival at the
apartment, Hayes got into an argument with the suspect. The suspect
produced a pistol and shot both victims. After the shooting, the
suspect jumped from a second floor balcony and fled on foot.
