Incident at 909 East Crosstimbers
February 25, 2006 -- Houston
police are investigating the fatal shooting of a female at 909
East Crosstimbers about 3:30 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 24).
The victim is identified as Johanna Hernandez,
16, of 7722 Melrose. She suffered a gunshot wound to her upper
right side and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Torres and
Officer S. Straughter reported:
An unknown suspect(s) fired shots at a residence
at 909 East Crosstimbers and a bullet penetrated the front wall
of the house and struck Ms. Hernandez as she was standing in the
living room.
Shortly before the shooting, an 18-year-old male
who lives at the home was with some friends riding around in a
vehicle. While riding around the neighborhood, the male and his
friends reportedly shot at several homes and at least one vehicle
that had members of a rival gang inside.
At this time, it is believed the motive for the
shooting death is retaliation by those rival group members. The
suspect(s) were driving in a white Ford Explorer.
