Traffic Incident at 2500 East Loop North
February 11, 2006 -- Houston
police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2500 East
Loop North about 7:55 a.m. today (Feb. 11).
The identity of the victim and the cause of death
are pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's
office.
HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant
M.W. Bearden and Officer J.W. Nickell reported:
The driver of a Ford F-150 truck was traveling
southbound on the East Loop when the vehicle suddenly veered to
the right and off the freeway onto a grassy embankment. The vehicle
continued to slide down the embankment and came to rest against
a wooden billboard support column. The victim was pronounced dead
at the scene. It appears no other vehicles were involved. As the
victim's vehicle began to veer off the freeway, several witnesses
attempted to get his attention by sounding their horns, however,
the victim did not appear to respond. Toxicology test will be
preformed to determine if alcohol or medication was a factor.
The investigation is continuing.
