Incident at 418 Cherry Valley

December 31, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental death of an infant at 418 Cherry Valley at about 11:15 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 30).

The victim has been identified as Savannah Johnson, 1 month-old, of 418 Cherry Valley. The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.R. McGalin and Officer M. Sosa reported:

Savannah Johnson was sleeping in a bed with her mother and five year-old sister. The victim's mother woke up at approximately 11:15 a.m. and found her child unresponsive. She called 911 and Savannah was transported to the Northeast Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The infant's death is being investigated as an accident.
